In-Room Dining

Meal choices will be given daily and brought to your inpatient room. For questions on your meals or special requests please ask your nurse to contact nutritional services staff.

Cafeteria/Vending Machines

Visitors are invited to dine in the hospital cafeteria. Food is available in the cafeteria from 12:00 p.m. - 1 p.m. Caféteria is open to all between meal times, please ring doorbell if assistance is needed. Complimentary Coffee is available and located in the Cafeteria, Radiology, Lab, Surgery Center and Long Term Care. Vending machines are available and located outside of Long Term Care and in the Cafeteria. A drinking fountain is located in the ER hallway. Water coolers are located in administration and near the therapy department.

Genevieve’s Place (Coffee/Gift Shop)

Genevieve’s has coffee, special drinks, snacks and gifts. It is staffed by our HCMH Auxiliary volunteers. All sales go to the Auxiliary and their efforts to help the hospital with equipment purchases and education.

Telephones

Local calls may be made at any time by dialing “9” and then the phone number you are calling. Long-distance calls may be placed by calling collect or with a calling card. Dial “9” and “0” to place the call. The main number for HCMH is (515) 332-4200. Family and friends may call your room by dialing (515) 332-75_ _ then your room number.

Cell Phones

Patients and visitors may use their cell phones. Please respect other patient’s privacy. Please do not take pictures of other patients.

Internet Access

We offer free wireless internet to patients and visitors. Find the service called “Guest wifi”. If you have trouble with access, call the helpline: 0 or (515) 332-4200.

Cable TV

You have cable TV in your room. The control for the TV is in your room. If you need help with the TV, please ask your caregiver.

Newspapers

Newspapers are available at the front registration desk.

Flowers/Balloons/Mail

Flowers and mail will be delivered to patients room. Outgoing mail may be left at the Registration Desk and will be taken to the post office daily. HCMH is a latex free hospital, therefore latex balloons are prohibited, but mylar balloons are allowed.

Notary Public

We offer notary services free of charge for our patients. Please contact our registration desk if a notary is needed.

Chaplains

HCMH has a staff of chaplains that provide support 24-hours a day, seven days a week. If you would like to talk to a chaplain, please ask your nurse or dial “0” and the operator will contact a chaplain. We want to address your spiritual needs.

Patient Survey

To help us improve patient care, we encourage you to fill out a survey you may receive after you leave. Your input is important in helping us improve the patient care given at HCMH.

Visitor Hours - COVID-19 Visiting Restrictions

Your friends and family are welcome to visit anytime. Ask your family and friends to stay home if they are sick. Some areas may limit visitors and visiting hours if there is a health or safety concern. For safety, the hospital locks its doors each evening at 8:00 pm. After 8:00 pm, visitors must enter through the Emergency Department doors.
